Strong turnout for @sophiesanniti on Behaviour Change for Climate Change, Systems Thinking Ontario 53rd monthly meeting, first of the year. Early research into Terror Management Theory, derived from Ernest Becker (1973) Denial of Death. (Lambert Lounge, OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20170117 - OCADU
Debriefing by @redesign of #rsd6 @RSDSymposium @OCADU_SFI Systems Thinking Ontario session in Toronto, for those who weren't in Oslo. Slides soon to be officially on web site, relating highlights from memory triggered conversations for clarification and extension. Students new to the master's program may not appreciate how close to the leading edge some of this content is. (Systems Thinking Ontario, OCAD University, Richmond Street, Toronto) 20171115 - OCADU
Workshop on "Design X: Sketching Some Future Paths for Design Professionals" at RSD5, OCADU, Toronto - OCADU
Systems Thinking Ontario first meeting of New Year discussing some topics looking forward, reviewing the format of sessions in history. Repeated contextual presentation from 2012 including the map of ignorance, postnormal science, and the design in inquiring systems. (Lambert Lounge, OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20170118 - OCADU
For Systems Thinking Ontario, Panagiotis Panagiotakopoulos @closetheloopgr starting with basics of Viable System Model, before describing application on a unified Sustainability Management System. Bimodal knowledge distribution in audience, from those who are new to VSM, to some who are experts. (Lambert Lounge, OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20160615 - OCADU
Systems Thinking Ontario with Chris Kennedy describing Industrial Ecology, in a role as president of ISIE. Systems thinkers also asking questions about relations between IE and other fields and organisations. Interdisciplinary researchers working across interdisciplinary organisations means lots of overlaps. (Lambert Lounge, OCADU, Toronto) 20151021 - OCAD University
Afternoon showing #SusanWood (2024) Intangible Spaces of nylon organza, polyester plastic brim wire, hanging from ceiling. Inspired by the Japanese concept of Ma, where space between the body and garment are left as a place of energy and spirit. Installation deserves to be featured under better conditions, but #GradEx is a comprehensive event. (OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20240503 - OCAD University
Amongst the many #GradEx108 works, emmyytranpaints (2023) Across the Way acrylic on canvas caught my eye. Landscape of a ferry ride out west, recollection of ocean, mountain and sky, with wind blowing on the top deck. Overwhelmed by the flood of art and design in a wide variety of techniques and materials across 6 floors, plus the party outside in the park to the south. (OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20230503 - OCAD SFI lecture
Lecture by @redesign on Systemic Design: Social Systems for OCADU Master's Program in Strategic Foresight and Innovation. Hearing rich content familiar to experienced systems thinkers, a lot for novices to absorb. Followed with a lecture on service systems, design thinking and systems thinking, just to familiarize students with the domain (205 Richmond Street, room 7310) 20140314 0948 - Oakland runway end
Marshes of Alameda at the northwest end of Oakland Airport, with Bay Bridge in the distance. Hotel room has view of jets way taking off, amidst waterfowl nesting below. Was impressed at nearby Victorian homes in Alameda, crossed a lot of bridges to reach hotel. (Alameda, CA) 20120505 0825 - Oakland Hills
Dinner including 2 babies and 1 toddler, adults served lactose-free, dairy-free and vegetarian diets. Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, dessert of gluten-free cheesecake, vegan chocolate cake and limoncello reflects California variety and quality of food. Network of researchers, but little talk of day jobs, more about visiting and living in the Bay Area. (Oakland Hills, California) 20161017
