- Frankfurt Airport
Cool welcome to Germany with stairs to bus to Terminal A. Long immigration lines to B gates. (Frankfurt Airport, Germany) 20160220 - Frankfurt Airport Terminal A
Mobile installation in atrium of popular hub for flights across Europe. Now morning daylight, arrival was dark on overnight trans-Atlantic leg. On time schedule and loose connection have enough time for shower and leisurely breakfast in Senator Lounge. Stiffness and dull headache chills be treated, but first have to sit on another plane for a free hours. (Frankfurt Airport, Terminal A, Germany) 20160131 - Free sample lineup
Mob in front of @Sabra foods truck @ToTheDanforth, but dips all gone late Sunday afternoon, just offering pita chips. Festival stretches east of Pape, bike is best way there. - Fremont Street
Doing cultural anthropology in Las Vegas on a Saturday night. First registered for World of Watson conference, then Viet dinner, fire-breathing praying mantis at Downtown Container Park, and joined the crowds watching zipliners overhead and street performers on the ground. With many people dressed for partying, sometimes hard to separate visitors from vendors. (Fremont Street, Las Vegas, Nevada) 20161022 - French cannon aimed at Ontario Parliament
One of two cannons aimed westward at the Ontario Legislature Buildings from 23 Queen's Park Crescent. Presumably not loaded. Plaque says "part of the armament of the French warship Le Prudent captured and burnt by the British under Admiral Boscawen on July 26th 1756 at Louisbourg" (Toronto) 20110711 1900 - Front Campus
Big dig project at centre of university campus started in June as the Landmark Project, with a 3-year completion date. Boreholes 240 metres deep will enable a geothermal exchange field below a new underground parking lot. I remember the days in the 1970s when the ground would be saturated in the spring, as the submerged Taddle Creek would re-emerge. (Front Campus, King's College Circle, University of Toronto, Ontario) 20210905 - Front Street East
Turned faucet handle, no water. Unlikely location for public tap, presumably of potable water, in the median between eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic. Is this an artifact of the Old Town, before indoor plumbing became common? (Front Street East, east of Church Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20200908 - Front year garden in Hull England 20110716
Flowers stretch westward, hoping for the sun on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Hull, England. A typical residential street, with two-storey houses in rows. (Hull, UK) 20110716 1700 - Fu Yao
Found Job's tears, definitively marked as coix seeds, in bulk quantities at my local Chinese supermarket. It's a gluten-free substitute for barley, packaged in small quantities labelled as "barley" or "pearl barley" as 薏仁 / 薏米 (yì rén / yì mí). Job's tears are rounder than barley, and have a brown groove on one side. The bulk bin correct labelling was more reassuring. (Fu Yao, Gerrard Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20170307 - Fu Yao Supermarket Riverdale
Fresh jackfruit in season in Chinatown, they'll sell you less than the whole. Biked over to replenish the pantry, since the family was away for four days. Shift to Pacific Time and back, late evenings with extended family, and then evening flight home means brainpower low due to to jet lag. (Fu Yao Supermarket Riverdale, Gerrard Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20160621 - Fushimi Inari Shrine
Beginning of ascent through thousands of vermilion torii gates at Shinto shrine, on a rainy late afternoon in early March. Brief sightseeing opportunity on routing from Tokyo to Kyoto on shinkasen, continuing on to Osaka in the car of a colleague. (Fushimi Inari Shrine) 20150301 - Fushun Road
Wicker chairs on cart pulled by worker on foot on the city street, in the old fashioned way. Had a morning walk around the neighbourhood south of Tongji U., active with early shoppers at markets. (Fushun Road, Siping district, Shanghai, PR China) 20180417 - Fuxing Park
Card players attract observers, on the plaza facing south over the pond to the waterside pavilion. The park is a welcome green space in a city where stone and concrete roads don't have grass, and spring hasn't seen the trees sprout leaves, as yet. Bright and clear day. (Fuxing Park, Shanghai, PR China) 20190319 - Gagosian Britannia
Richard Serra (2016) "NJ-2" is a labyrinth that each visitor can walk into. The twists and turns are surprising, as I entered from the west and exited from the east. The walls are weatherproof steel, so removing backpacks to carry by hand is superfluous to damaging the imposing structure. (Gagosian Gallery, Britannia Street, King's Cross, London, England) 20161207 - Galata Restaurant
Family dinner enjoying boru kebabı (Turkish pipe kebab), as well as grilled combo and two orders of pide without cheese. Staff bring their own lighting wand to snap photos, we may end up on their web stream. Son #2 arrived late, crosstown traffic on weekend with Pride celebrations, and Toronto Jazz Festival. (Galata Restaurant, Danforth Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20230623
