- Lambert Lounge
Systems Thinking Ontario recap discussion from ISSS and ASC meetings over the summer. Selected content as a starting point, conversation wandering according to the ideas of the attendees. (Lambert Lounge, OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20170920 - Landlocked green space
Discovered Cairns Avenue Parkette, a filled-in ravine where Cairns Creek used to flow south into Small's Pond before 1935. Surrounded by back yards of houses, it's a ditch with higher grassy areas enjoyed by dogs and their walkers. Entrance on the west side, no exit any other direction. Historical research explains the strange routing of roads in east end Toronto. (Highcroft Road, Upper Beaches, East Toronto) 20150809. "A brief history of Small's Pond, used then abused" | Chris Bateman | April 21, 2014 | BlogTO at www.blogto.com/city/2012/04/a_brief_history_of_smalls_pon... - Lane S College E Euclid
Late afternoon #LightUptheLaneways @lanewayproject @StART_Toronto unveiling of murals on garage doors by local street artists. Painters started in morning, some still in progress on larger surfaces. Discovered this laneway doesn't yet have a distinctive name, an opportunity for the motivated. (Lane South College East Euclid (south of College Street, between Euclid Street northbound and Palmerston Street southbound) Little Italy, Toronto, Ontario) 2018096 - Lane South Queen East Knox
Wrought iron sign of Ye Olde Blacksmith Shoppe has entry fence locked up, with shell of a building to the south. This laneway seems to be one of many in Toronto yet to be named, running dead end into TTC Russell Carhouse at Connaught Street first established in 1916. Entry to the building northbound from Minto Street is obstructed by a prominent fire hydrant. (Lane South Queen East Knox, Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario) 20200923 - Laneway between Booth Avenue and Logan Avenue, Queen Street East and Eastern Avenue
Thursday evening called @Bell_Support, Friday technician leaves note for @RogersHelps but doesn't tell me. Saturday afternoon found service report taped to wire. Can't people give more care about hazards in public thoroughfares? (Riverside, Toronto, Ontario) 20160903 - Laneway between Booth Avenue and Logan Avenue, Queen Street East and Eastern Avenue
Wire hanging dangerous low. Phoned @311Toronto, they said call @Bell_Support, who said the fastest they can send someone is tomorrow. Hung a white plastic bag on the hazard, so it doesn't choke a bicyclist (like me). (Riverside District, Toronto) 20160901 - Laneway demolition
Just up our street, one of the houses is having its garage demolished. The backhoe excavator was small, and the dump truck to remove the detritus was practically the full width of our laneway. We have construction at the top of our street, the middle of our street, and major plans coming for the bottom of our street. (Booth Avenue, Riverside district, Toronto, Ontario) 20170620 - Laneway, Leslieville
Project by @lanewayproject seems complete, with stripe replacing drab pavement, south of Queen Street East, from Logan Avenue eastbound towards Morse Street. Proposed as the "Leslieville Laneway Park-Ing", did I miss an official launch, or are we awaiting pandemic reopening? This byway is not yet named, while the next block west is Louis Kesten Lane. (Laneway south of Queen Street East, from Logan Avenue east to Morse Street, Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario) 20200604 - Laneway, Leslieville
Who has the keys to these locks? Two posts and a chain across laneway raises questions as to whether it's private property, or a public right-of-way that has been obstructed. Pedestrians can easily walk around, but vehicles will be deterred. (Laneway north of Queen Street East, from Carlaw Avenue eastbound to Boston Avenue, Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario) 20201208 - Laoximen Tea Plaza
One of largest tea distribution centres in the city, where we asked about luobuma tea, and were told it's not considered to be a Chinese tea. Merchants used smartphone to translate Chinese messages into English. Followed suggestion to visit a herb store, and we were offered the bluish dogbane on the first try. (Laoximen Tea Plaza, Shanghai, PR China) 20190317 - Lapinlahdenkatu
Dinner with all Finnish ingredients (unless the salmon came from Norway). Discussed 2016 as a transitional year with lots of change, released now positively towards 2017. Missu the cat hid for most of the dinner, either not enjoying the streaming jazz, or suspicious that the catsitter would take him away. (Lapinlahdenkatu, Helsinki, Finland) 20161203 - Late 30th anniversary portrait
With AHI visiting in town for the holiday weekend, DY requested an official family picture with everyone together, wearing matching ties. Occasions for all of our sons to be at home at the same time are getting rarer. (Don River at Lakeshore Blvd., Toronto) 20150906 - Lawn mushroom top
Is this mushroom edible? Overnight, mushroom sprung up in back yard in east end Brussels. Newlywed bride could serve mushroom in spaghetti sauce tomorrow night, but we wouldn't want a tragic ending. (Woluwe St. Pierre, Belgium) 20150925 - Lawn mushroom underside
Is this mushroom edible? Overnight, mushroom sprung up in back yard in east end Brussels. Newlywed bride could serve mushroom in spaghetti sauce tomorrow night, but we wouldn't want a tragic ending. (Woluwe St. Pierre, Belgium) 20150925 - Lawrence Park neighbourhood
Full-sized bed doesn't fit in microvan as futon did, fortunate to have winched straps to tie down on roof and day without precipitation. Cascading furnishings through extended family ties, as their teenager is taller and still growing. Minor spectacle driving downtown via Bayview Avenue. (Lawrence Park neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20190917
