- Woodbine Beach
Eastmost #WinterStations installation of #NovakDjogo #DanielJoshuaVanderhorst (2023) Conrad, honoring #DeadRaccoonTO on July 9, 2015, when a dead animal rested at the Yonge-Church Street intersection for 11 hours, before being picked up by the city. Strolled westward via the boardwalk, many dogs enjoying the sunny day with their owners. Spontaneous date for us as a couple. (Woodbine Beach, Lake Shore Boulevard East, Toronto, Ontario) 20230307 - Metropolia U., Bulevardi campus
Lectured in Industrial Management master's program, collaborating on generative pattern language writing for an hour, after 90 minutes of lecture. Students are mostly working professionals with practical experience, so we jointly felt our way through using the format for service systems thinking. We've come a long way since the program was initiated in 2006. (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Bulevardi, Helsinki, Finland) 20161202 - Peter Jones presenting at #RSD3
@redesign on Flourishing Business in Oslo, while @aupward in Cleveland. Living up to Relating Systems Thinking and Design title for symposium. - Farm north of Krakow
Train paused, horses not paying attention. Journey from Warsaw to Krakow shows lots of agriculture, and a few towns. Fighting key lag in compartment of 6 passengers - Mount Pleasant
Family of four generations, convening at the resting place of the fifth. Rare occasion to pull in members from Texas, California and Virginia, not to mention all over Toronto. Half of the group continued the conversation started at lunch, at home until after dinner. (Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario) 20170528 - Harald Herlin Learning Centre
University library was been remodelled as more of a central gathering place for students. Coffee stand at entry level overlooks two-story atrium into work spaces below, with cloud-like light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. The streets outside are still under construction, with a new building at the hub. (Harald Harlin Learning Centre, Aalto University, Espoo, Finland) 20170814 - Trudeau Airport
Not yet in Brussels, French language announcements on terminal. Brief stop in Montreal, booked loose connection so no stress on flight departing late. Moose, hockey and maple syrup are enduring symbols for Canada. (Trudeau Airport, Montreal, Quebec) 20150922 - Mount Pleasant Cemetery
Additional visit to graves, with brother and sister coming into town. The tree that we stood under on a previous visit has its top either broken off or chopped off. Extra time was spent on removing flowers that had overgrown, hiding the headstone. After a visit to Pine Hills Cemetery earlier, I took a nap in the car. (Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario) 20160717 - Princess of Wales Theatre
Fan zone with security guards keeping order, yet no movie stars in sight near the main screening room of the Toronto International Film Festival. Nearby financial institutions and Metro Hall running business as usual, relatively unimpacted by the inconvenience. (Princess of Wales Theatre, King Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20170911 - Shanghai Pudong Airport
Whimsical rooster themed installation on middle of airport, lightens the spirit on the long walk from the airplane, through immigration, to the Maglev train. Impressed on short ride hitting 430 km/h peak, before slowing down at western terminus. (Pudong International Airport, Shanghai, PR China) 20170402 - The Real Jerk
Family lunch relaxed on a weekday, with sister-in-law visiting with baby. She requested some food not Middle Eastern, as she's been living in Israel. Curried goat was popular amongst us, jerk pork was extra spicy, and the beef roti was more substantial than an appetizer to be shared by all of us. (The Real Jerk, Gerrard Street East at Carlaw Avenue, Toronto) 20160303 - Barracks moved from Wyoming
Disassembled and reconstructed American concentration camp for Japanese from Heart Mountain Wyoming circa 1942, now at Japanese American National Museum (Los Angeles) - Village of Yorkville Park
Quintet @markgodfreybass @toronojazzfest with @IanWrightMusic drums, @mattworoshyl sax, #ChrisPruden keys, #KaeMurphy trumpet. Recognized by @TOArtsFdn as Emerging Jazz Artist of 2019, released album in Feburary 2020 just in time for pandemic shutdown. First live performance of the original group reformed for this day. (Village of Yorkville Park, Cumberland Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20220629 - Que Huong
Dinner late, car failed after 10 hour drive east from Iowa. Pulled off highway in Plymouth County, Michigan, and drove to Clawson on local streets for more than an hour. Will take minivan in for diagnosis tomorrow. Vehicle is 13 years old, may or may not be at end of life. (Que Huong, Madison Heights, Michigan) 20160510 - North Market Square
Saturday family lunch, with leftovers to take home. Time squeezed between 5K run in morning, and art class in the afternoon, around university final exam schedule. Spring weather now holding constant. (North Market Square, E. College Street, Iowa City, Iowa) 20160507
