- Nelson Mandela Walk
Outdoor conversation pit features cantilevered granite plank with rectangular depression carved out of top near far end. Construction along pedestrian walk has been completed after two winters. No students on campus in late spring, a few people lounging on benches, enjoying clear weather. (Nelson Mandela Walk, Ryerson Community Park, Toronto, Ontario) 20210520 - Evergreen Brickworks from the Governor's Bridge Lookout
First stop on Saturday cultural tour of Toronto with brother's family from Los Angeles. Kids climbed hill instead of gravel walk, risking muddy clothes for the rest of day (Toronto) - Rick Dove, Response In Two Dimensions

- Cineplex Yonge Dundas
Family viewing of #AvengersEndgame in IMAX 3D, in a full showing, 9 days after its opening. We normally prefer IMAX 2D in a full-size screen, but reserved seats were sold out. The movie seemed shorter than its 3h01m running time, tying up the 21-episode series that we've followed for some years. (Cineplex Yonge Dundas, Dundas Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20190504 - Gate403 Roam Project trio piano
Some new compositions by @RoamToronto in acoustic trio @Gate403 early evening show. Occasion for spousal date night in Roncesvalles Village. First set audience had infant in baby carrier, restaurant filled up by second set. Roam is Lisa Patterson (accordion, sax, piano), Alex McMaster (cello), Justin Abedin (guitar). (Gate 403, Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20160429 - Lord Strathcona School
Strolling with Chinatown memories back to the 1960s, remembering the elementary school for KY, TW and DI. Sons getting history of the family, first-hand accounts of growing up in the neighbourhood. Population was practically all Chinese in those days, houses nearby are now gentrified. (Lord Strathcona School, East Pender Street, Vancouver, BC) 20201025 - Gary Smith, Thursday plenary
ISSS 2016 Boulder plenary - La Tour d'An Tiem
Lunch reception for wedding of graduate school roommate of 1981-1982 from Kellogg School at Northwestern University. He came to our wedding in Toronto in 1985, and we reciprocated in Brussels in 2015. We're now both working on our first marriages. (La Tour d'An Tiem, Woluwe Saint-Pierre) 20150926 - Bellair Street
Public space has been reallocated into curbside patio, with the restaurants taking over the whole street. The brick lane only runs two short blocks, and can easily be circumnavigated by cars on a slow one-way loop. Businesses were active with customers, but not like the usual summer festival seasons for the city. Tara Kannangara (vocals, trumpet), Colin Story (guitar), Chris Pruden (piano), Julian Anderson-Bowes (bass), Mackenzie Longpre (drums) (Rex Hotel, Toronto) 20150830 - HarbourfrontCentre TaiwanFest
Neo-psychedelic indie rock @EchoBand Echo announced songs in Mandarin, and had audience dancing in their seats. Detailed instructions of directions for hands, up, down, left, right. Much of the audience wouldn't understand the lyrics, but music plus demonstrations are a universal language. Taiwan Fest also had The Art of Seating, Pan-Asian Culinary Competition, and the Holy Sheep from LunarFest. (Harbourfront Centre, Toronto) 20150829
