- Parliament Hill
Evening stroll in Otttawa by Parliament Hill, on the south bank of the Ottawa River. Compared to Toronto, the people in Ottawa are friendlier and seem less stressed. Since I spend so much time outside of Canada, I'm getting cognitive dissonance of dealing day to day with nice people where I don't have to think so much about how we communicate (Ottawa) 20130815 2005 - Parliament Buildings of the Government of Canada, on the Ottawa River
A bright spring morning, with an inspiring view of the houses of parliament in Ottawa. From a 26th floor hotel view, the natural splendour of the Canadian urban forest is inspiring (Wednesday) - Park Hyatt
Sunset view north from the 91st floor in Pudong, with the Oriental Pearl Tower, Huangpu River and the Bund beyond. We opted to be seated for tea, wine and whisky, rather than waiting in a long queue and paying the admission fee for the observation level a few floors higher. The small table for 3 grew to 4 and then 5, as friends of our new acquaintance from Shenzhen came to visit. (Park Hyatt, World Financial Centre, Shanghai, PR China) 20190323 - Paramount Front Street
Convening long time friends, one flying 950 miles, the other driving 50 miles, to sync up on ideas over Middle Eastern small dishes. Discussed the progression from Adaptive Enterprise thinking on Reason-for-Being as shifting towards stories as easier for people to express. Timing coincided with Raptors celebration parade, but getting to selected venue still required creative routing around the crowds. (Paramount Middle Eastern Kitchen, Front Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20190619 - Pappajohn Sculpture Park
In foreground, Yayoi Kusama (2014 design, 2018 fabrication) Pumpkin (L) represents a form of radiant energy. In background, Tony Smith (started 1962, completed 1981) Marriage originally didn't have the opening visibile in three-quarter view, so the top box was made 2 feet longer. Late Sunday afternoon, few visitors to the park in rising summer temperatures. (Pappajohn Sculpture Park, Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa) 20230820 - Pappajohn Sculpture Park
In foreground, Keith Haring (1989 design, 2009 fabrication) Three Dancing Figures, version C, is number 3 from an edition of 10, inspired by the graffiti in NYC. In background, Jaume Plensa (2007) Nomade first shown in Antibes, then Miami, before current siting, with human figure outlined with individual letters. City centre park is compact with 9 installations, some by familiar famous artists seen in other cities at different scales. (Pappajohn Sculpture Park, Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa) 20230820 - Pape Village
Family dinner backyard BBQ extended with adopted uncles, reflecting on the recent wedding. Reminisced of early days hosting the sons when the parents went on vacation to London. Grilled burgers, chicken and vegetables, alongside Japanese curry with rice. (Pape Villiage, Broadview Avenue, East York Ontario) 20220809 - Pape Avenue Public School
Behind a preteen boy on a bicycle, a cameraman on a film dolly truck, and then maybe 20 grips and make-up artists in support. Across the street, a traffic cop was stopping commuters for 2 minutes to reduce noise during the shoot. On my neighbourhood afternoon bike rides, finding a film crew at work is not uncommon. (Pape Avenue Public School, Riverdale, Toronto, Ontario) 20160401 - Pantages fixture
Bentwood hanging electrical light in the Rehearsal Hall of the Pantages Hotel. While the venue name suggests entertainment, the Canon Theatre is down the street. Today's meeting is technical briefings with the usual PowerPoint. Long room, good sound reinforcement for presenters. (Toronto) 20111115 1540 - Panepistimio
Smashed glass of metro stop map was one of the few signs of the vandalism by anarchists reported on the day of the general strike in Greece. Walking around Syntagma Square, watched some cleaners removing graffiti from walls. The events concluded when news reporters filled their final reports for the day. At midnight, even protesters are in the bars, or taking a rest. (Panepistimio, Athens, Greece) 20151112 - Panel: Jeremiah OsborneGowey, Bruce Milne, JoshTewksbury, Tuesday plenary
