Bike riding westbound at dusk, the daylight is getting shorter past mid-summer. The Toronto Windshare turbine was turning slowly, generating electricity. To the south, I could the Toronto Summer Live Muisc Festival playing in Trillium Park, while bright lights of the Canadian National Exhibition were to the north. From the southeast tip of Marilyn Bell Park, boardwalk gives a view of the silos @OntarioPlace West Islands. Exited IMAX theatre at dusk, after enjoying Top Gun Maverick in a sold-out show. This cinema was the first permanent 70mm projector in 1971 when I saw "North of Superior", compared to seeing my first commercial film here, tonight. We left home early to drive to the venue, not anticipating the crowd at the east gate going to see Young Money and Drake, as we crossed over to the west gate. On floor of southwest edge of gallery, @EsteyDucuara (2020-2023) Black Hole, mineral coal of 282 cm diameter. Atmosphere of fear associated with open-cast coal mining in Colombia, the lines this version of the installation were inspired by aerial views of the roads east of Toronto. Measuring and Being @pete5000 lecture, visiting from London while @ONSITEatOCADU had programmed Diagrams of Power exhibition. Quantified Self now records statistics digitally, the data assemblage can reinforce a belief system, or be a critical visualization of unexamined ways of thinking. Historically, this goes back to industrialization, when clocks also changed perceptions of time. This talk may evolve on the way to publication as a book chapter.
