- Fleet of PanAm @TO2015 cars
Two weeks before the games start, a lot in Toronto Portlands is where the new cars with PanAm stickers are parked. Staging area is near the West Donlands Athletes Village, remarkably close to downtown Toronto. The contribution of General Motors as a transportation sponsor is significant. (Cherry Street at Commissioners Road, Toronto) 20150620 - Flemish Beauty Pears
Local Ontario Flemish Beauty Pears in season. Mislabelled as Barletts, I recognized them on sight. Sentimental fall ritual for me. (Foodland on Danforth, Toronto) 20110928 1836 - Flexing at Muscle Beach
Judging for Mr and Mrs Muscle Beach on Independence Day in Venice' California - Florida Theatre, Gordon Lightfoot
In Jacksonville, FL, Gordon Lightfoot on tour for 13 days of 15. I was coincidentally in town for a conference, and snagged row 5 tickets with JMW 2 hours before show. Last time I saw Lightfoot was in Massey Hall in Toronto in the mid-1970s. Songs familiar, performance now performance of a 73-year old is different. Hard to find anyone in audience under age 40. (Jacksonville, FL) 20120122 2041 - Fog On Burrard Inlet
Not a ghost ship, just a freighter off the Port of Vancouver, as seen from the Seabus. Heavy low fog has obscured the mountains earlier in the day. Bright sunshine cleared mist by later in the day. (Vancouver) 20120203 0936 - Fondation Cartier pour l'art comtemporain
Unexpected joy at complicated two-room installation taking entire first floor, with "Musings on a Glass Box" 2014 Diller Scofidio + Renfro (designers), and David Lang and Jody Elff (sounds), explained during 6:30 p.m. tour (en francais). The receiving room has huge monitor panels suspended so observers ride a reclined shop creeper on wheels to view the images of the ceiling projected from the moving bucket in the transmitting room. (Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, Paris, France) 20141228 (Ballade pour une boîte de verre) - Fontbonne Ministries
New awnings over walkway are an adaptation for @FontbonneMin to continue services to commmunity who have to line up outside, with temperature dropping for winter. With #MustardSeed program, @CSJTO had changed from welcoming diners inside on weekends, to providing bagged lunches to go. On the sunny morning walk through neighbourhood, passed many multi-child strollers pushed by caregivers. (Fontbonne Ministries, Queen Street East, Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario). - Forest Lawn Crematorium
Japanese handbell on path to becoming a family heirloom, handed down from grandfather, now through father to daughters. Celebration of life for an artist who led a quiet life, remembered by spouse as a square who became a hippie. Our children played together in the parenting centre, when we first moved downtown. (Forest Lawn Crematorium, Yonge Street, North York, Ontario) 20191129 - Former Bayview Avenue onramp from River Street
The entry between Queen Street and King Street descended onto Bayview Avenue before 2011, after which the Flood Protection Landform routed traffic south towards the new Corktown Commons. Parkette seems temporary, with fences and construction machines at the bottom of the slope. The green space should eventually get a name when redevelopment is completed. (River Street, between Queen Street and King Street, Corktown, Toronto, Ontario) 20201017 - Former Seagram Museum
Friendly security guard escorted us to view decorative barrels now empty, historical architecture formerly housing CIGI 2003-2014. Door with Seagram crest says established 1857, predating this distillery building from 1878. The Centre for International Governance Innovation has moved to a modernist campus next door, and Shopify Plus moved in. I had been in some academic events in the great hall, it's now rows of desks with computers. (Former Seagram Museum, Erb Street, Waterloo, Ontario) 20180522 - Former Unilever site
East of Don Roadway, north of Lakeshore Boulevard East, south of the Adelaide Street onramp, there's 29 acres to be redeveloped, up to 60 acres with city and other private properties, says "Jobs, transit and the future: How an empty lot at the foot of Toronto could transform it" | Elizabeth Church | March 14, 2015 | Globe & Mail at www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/jobs-transit-and-the... (Toronto) 20150515 - Former Union Station Bus Terminal
Decommissioning of terminus north of the @unionstationTO tracks, as boarding for regional @GOTransit buses move south of the tracks. The 2003 replacement for the Toronto Coach Terminal had passengers traverse outside in summer and winter, while the new gate areas promise better. No snow on ground, we have a weather reprieve for a few days. (Union Station Bus Terminal, 141 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20201210 - Former Weston Bread Factory
Photo installation @laird_kay 2018 "Wonder" abstracts building details of bread production lines now silent since 2014. Venue for Contact Festival at the end of our street received zoning approvals in 2017, pre-sales of condominium units should commence later this month. More construction on our block to be expected. (Former Weston Bread Factory, 462 Eastern Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20180519 - Foro Del Tejedor
Our plans were not for a concert bellydancing with @sonorabalkanera, we had right venue but tickets for the wrong night. Usher was gracious to seat us in the balcony for this show. Voiceover that Bridging Mexico to Yugoslavia is Difficult reflected some of genre with modern instruments. Small theatre was intimate, couple on the ground floor energetically dancing. (Foro Del Tejedor, Roma Norte, Mexico City) 20191221 - Fort York
Installation of Bruno Billio (2016) Tri-Mirror Sculpture @FortYork, view eastward into quiet downtown on Canada Day. Families and tourists wandering around historic site late afternoon, watch pipe and drum corps with soldiers marching. Rain earlier in the day left the air clean. (Fort York, Garrison Creek, Toronto, Ontario) 20160701
