A trip for bicycle brake pads is mundane, but shopping in person seems extraordinary after pandemic shut down changes to pandemic grey zone. Cantilever style brakes aren't so common these days, the charitable might describe my old bike with a steel frame as vintage. (MEC, Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20210327 - McMichael Canadian Art Collection
#AJCasson (1965) Little Island, by the youngest of the #GroupOfSeven painters. Featured by @mcacgallery exhibition in The Art of Canada: Directors Cut, tour guide mentioned that only #LawrenHarris and Casson were commercial designers in the Group of Seven, with the others full-time painter artists. Family enjoyed the works, and the walk around the grounds. Somehow, our sons had not known this venue, donated to the Province of Ontario in 1966. (McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Islington Avenue, Kleinberg, Ontario) 20181202 - McGill Granby Parkette
Tent over @WeAreCairo @DowntownYonge via @CMincubator, but no shelter for audience. Performance cut short after 15 minutes for rain, organizers cautious of water around electrified instruments. Sun came out 30 minutes. Band is writing, not touring, this summer, said next show could be in August. (McGill Granby Parkette, Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20160709 - McCleary Playground
Towards constructiion of the future Riverside-Leslieville Station expected 2041 on Ontario Line, trains are running on the west tracks while the east bridge ihas been demolished. Heavy machinery has temporarily taken over the playground that will be enlarged as new retaining walls are put into place. Inconveniences on streetcar routings in the short term are in the promise of benefits in future. (McCleary Playground, McGee Street, Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20231022 - McCleary Playground
South of Queen Street East, on the east side of the GO train tracks, the wall looks bare not only because it's winter, but because trees were removed, presumably for the installation of future noise barriers. Entrances to the Riverside-Leslieville station on the Ontario line will be on the west side of the tracks, not this side. Beginning of a snowy afternoon rush hour, schoolchildren are walking home, not playing in the yard. (McCleary Playground, McGee Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20230125 - McCleary Playground
A second life for a tree, branches downward inverted from its natural history. In a garden designed for 5- to 12-year olds, children may not think the position so strange. Just east of the railway tracks by Queen Street East, this site might be altered by future transit expansions. (McCleary Playground, McGee Street, Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20201215 - McCarran Airport gates
Immediately on arrival as Las Vegas Airport, there are slot machines nearby. Casinos don't like cameras on their floors, but the attendants at the airport don't seem to care (Las Vegas, NV) 20120429 1136 - McCarran Airport Concourse D
Unusually rainy day in Las Vegas, lightning had been striking ground at a distance. Morning flight delayed into afternoon. Continuing hop back to the Bay Area, will still change beds a few more times before going home. (McCarran Airport, Concourse D, Las Vegas, Nevada) 20161024 - May Yan Seafood Restaurant
Since Chinese New Year runs 15 days from new moon to full moon, we deferred our family lunch on weekend after Super Bowl and a son's birthday. Double lobster and braised duck arrived after we finished the steamed bean curd and scallops in black bean sauce, and while still working through beef bricket bean curd hotpot, eggplant ground pork hotpot, sweet and sour fish fillets, mustard greens with conpoy scallop sauce, and king mushroom with pea leaves. Hand-picked order successfully achieved greater variety than the prescribed set menus. (May Yan Seafood Restaurant, Sheppard Avenue East, Scabrorough, Ontario) 20240217 - May Yan Seafood Restaurant
Christmas lunch foregoing turkey in favour of double lobster, beef brisket hotpot and noodle soup with mushrooms. Had confirmed in advance that restaurant would be open on the holiday, they said they'll rest on Boxing Day. Took leftovers home so that we won't have to cook, anticipating more family meals together this week. (May Yan Seafood Restaurant, Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario) 20231225 - May Yan Seafood Restaurant
Mangled understanding of order led to 2 lobsters delivered to table, plus expected beef tenderloin and fish fillets, with scallops on tofu with black bean sauce and pea shoots on their way. Enough leftovers for senior's lunch and maybe dinner tomorrow. Arrived for dinner later than expected, after rush hour traffic, shopping for rolling walker, and switching mobile phone providers for my father. (May Yan Seafood Restaruant, Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario) 20231122 - Matty Eckler Rec Centre
Cast ballot in advance poll for municipal election. Second of four days, before official voting day in 11 days. Convinced I'm not going to change my mind, no line-up and three marks on a long sheet of paper took 2 minutes. (Matty Eckler Recreation Centre, Gerrard Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20181011 - Matty Eckler Community Recreation Centre
Casted vote in last hour of advance polls for Toronto municipal election. No line up, showed voter card and ID, received ballot, filled in 3 bubbles. My preference is to judge the candidates from a bigger picture, rather than focusing on last minute promises and pleas. (Matty Eckler Community Recreation Centre, Gerrard Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20221014 - Mattamy Centre
Official B.Comm. with distinction for @Ryan_Ing, in Business Technology Management co-op program at Ryerson University. Two older brothers and parents observing the proceedings, while the eldest brother is on a plane crossing the Pacific from China to California. This convocation was the first that Ryerson has held in the former Maple Leaf Gardens. (Mattamy Centre, Ryerson University, Carleton Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20180612 - Mattamy Centre
Ryan Ing, receiving congratulations from President Mohamed Lachemi for graduating from Business Technology Management co-op program at Ryerson University, B.Comm. with distinction. The president remembered Ryan from a recent presentation of the Dennis Mock Student Leadership Award. (Mattamy Centre, Ryerson University, Carleton Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20180612
