- Riverside neighbourhood
Snow outside our bedroom window onto the street for the first day of December strikes fear into morning commuters. South of Queen Street East, just east of the Don River, we have a microclimate, so precipitation melted to wetness by later in day. Three weeks to winter solstice, and then we hope for brighter days. - Queen's Park
If Queen Victoria (reign 1837-1901) looked over her shoulder, she would see J. Sandfield Macdonald (first premier of Ontario, 1867-1864). Government offices are closed on the public holiday, visitors can enjoy the green space on bright summer day. City has started to open up from pandemic shutdown, optimistic for more social time. Pedestrians can easily walk around, but vehicles will be deterred. (Laneway north of Queen Street East, from Carlaw Avenue eastbound to Boston Avenue, Leslieville, Toronto, Ontario) 20201208 - Parliament Buildings of the Government of Canada, on the Ottawa River
A bright spring morning, with an inspiring view of the houses of parliament in Ottawa. From a 26th floor hotel view, the natural splendour of the Canadian urban forest is inspiring (Wednesday) - di_20140320_174200_st-on_designersabilitytothinkincomplexsystems

- St. James Park
Playground with market theme includes stacked crates, asparagus spears. Open in summer 2019 as part of Phase 1, other Phase 2 areas still fenced off either for completion, or due to pandemic interruption. We often pass by on Adelaide Street or King Street, but haven't stopped to notice the details. (St. James Park, King Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20200818 - Fentster
Storefront gallery @MakomTO installation @RDavidovitz (2020) What Will Remain stained glass sculpture has cracked panes, when inspected more closely. Toronto-based artist pays tribute to grandfather who would repair broken windows in post-war Vilna (then Poland, now Lithuania). On the eve of statutory holiday, few people on the street, except for pizza pickups next door.
