- Taiwan Design Museum
Exhibiton on Designs For The Next 100 Years by design firm NOSIGNER looks into solving ecological problems. Follows the approach of Evolutional Creativity from Eisuke Tachikawa of mutation and selection in biological evolution to create astounding beauty and function. Award-winning book written in Japanese was translated into Chinese and published in Taiwan. (Taiwan Design Museum, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan) 20231015 - Roberta's Bushwick
Checking quality of pizza fresh out of the oven, experiencing the Bushwick neighbourhood. Will just have a weekend in New York with 2 of our sons, before moving on. The urban vibe is energetic, but it's getting harder for the elders to hear, over the music. (Roberta's Bushwick, Moore Street, Brooklyn, NY) 20220902 - Osaka Restaurant
All you can eat sushi, closing out 4 days of conference, universities and incubator visits. Flights tomorrow morning. will probably fall asleep en route. An exceptionally busy month of intensive collaboration. (Osaka Restaurant, Don Mills, Ontario) 20161015 - Polson Street
The yellow of the Cherry Street Bridge South is distinct from the red of the Cherry Street Bridge North. The naturalization of the Polson Slip is still in progress, as the former rectilinear Ship Channel gains curves constructed in the River Valley to slow down fast-flowing water during anticipated major storms. Looking northward over the Lafarge cement operations, industrial production will continue long after the district transformation is complete in 2024. (Polson Street, Port Lands, Toronto, Ontario) 20220920 - IBM Almaden Research Center
Service science @snousala @cher95112 evolving with rise of data science. How do communities of practice in design relate to innovation? (IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, California) 20161025 - NCAR
Field trip includes trail towards Bear Peak, behind the National Center for Atmospheric Research building designed by I.M. Pei. Boulder regulations didn't allow building over 8,000 feet, so deal was made to all citizens free access to park, which serves as trail head to Bear Peak and Green Mountain. Winding 2 lane paved road on the way up. (National Center for Atmospheric Research, Table Mesa Drive, Boulder, Colorado) 20160727 - B-Boy competition
Battle for the North #BFTN2015 @TO2015 #Panamania Arts & Culture Program, The FAM as hometown favourite. Sold out community event, children in the front row, international judges will run workshops over next few days. (Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Distillery District, Toronto) 20150723 - Village of Yorkville Park
From Montreal, #CODEQuartet @TorontoJazzFest @cjensenmusic sax, @lexfrenchmusic trumpet, #AdrianVedady bass, @jimdoxas drums. Behavior consistent with self-description as a collective, as each player called out the rhythm at the start of their composition. More openness and lightness in the chordless ensemble, without a guitar or keyboard to fill in space. (Village of Yorkville Park, Cumberland Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20220627 - Danube University Krems
Small university campus just one street by two blocks up hill from small town. Attending pattern language conference, PURPLSOC is third within a year. Would have meet practically all Christopher Alexander scholars by now, may focus down in future events with some interested in collaborating. Shortest lead time ever, 8 hours on plane, 3 hours on train, 1 hour to find campus, barely time for lunch, check-in and shower before first speaker started at 2:30 pm. (Danube University Krems, Austria) 20150703 - Trinity Bellwoods Park
Bust of Simon Bolivar looking over Farmers Market on late Tuesday afternoon. Lots of bikes and baby strollers in the denser west end of town. I was riding the bike without baskets, so no shopping, just tourism. (Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market, Dundas Street West at Shaw Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20160823 - McCleary Playground
Towards constructiion of the future Riverside-Leslieville Station expected 2041 on Ontario Line, trains are running on the west tracks while the east bridge ihas been demolished. Heavy machinery has temporarily taken over the playground that will be enlarged as new retaining walls are put into place. Inconveniences on streetcar routings in the short term are in the promise of benefits in future. (McCleary Playground, McGee Street, Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20231022 - Riverside
Rare occasion with entire family in town, so Chinese beef stew plus last minute duck and BBQ pork. Unusual congregation in front of television to watch Star Trek Discovery premiere. (Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20170924 - Vantaa Gate 22
Mobile installation of white sheets above an airport gate moves slowly with the air flows higher in the terminal. Walked from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 in hopes of viewing the advertised art installations at Gate 31, but aborted that plan when the long linear nature of the terminal emperiled catching my departure from Gate 15. There used to be an art installation in Terminal 1, now since replaced by a boring row of carrals for working. (Helsinki Airport, Vantaa, Finland) 20170817 - Ben's Chili Bowl DCA
Strolled back from Terminal A check-in to B to try out local smoked sausage with chili. Tried to improve health of selection by ordering rice bowl with sausage, but server wouldn't accept the order. Will have to compensate with extra veggies later at dinner. Enjoying counter service.(Ben's Chili Bowl, Reagan National Airport Terminal B, Washington DC) 20160323 - Restaurant Zain Al Shaam
Healthy Syrian-Lebanese plates of (i)mixed kebabs and (ii) vegetarian, in central Brussels, complemented by appetizer of pickles, pita stuffed with a spicy filling, and a coconut-pistachio flan. Restaurant was busy when we arrived, leading us to the table by the door where many takeout orders were picked up. Could be the best meal that we've had in months, freshly made and served in person. (Restaurant Zain Al Shaam, Bouldvard Anspach, Brussels, Belgium) 20211101
