- UBC Belkin Gallery
Musical score background, with wood-burning fire ring and tripod stools, #TaniaWillard (2018) "Surrounded / Surrounding". Leather seats have words etched into the leather. The Sounding exhibition is a combination of visual and aural installation, we observed mostly artifacts and social distancing sensibilities. (Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC) 20201029 - Yonge-Dundas Square
At @YDSquare, waterplay fountains installed by #DanEuser #Waterarchitecture circa 2002 have been turned back on. This signals progress in reopening of the city, after the pandemic shutdown. Filtration system keeps the sprays above pool-level quality. (Yonge-Dundas Square, Toronto, Ontario) 20200714 - Seeley Hall
Second day alumni book sale @Trinity_College busy at midday, line up to check out. Recognized some of the books from the five boxes donated earlier in the year. Picked up some volumes not readily available from the library, trying to not fill up our basement. (Seeley Hall, Trinity College, Hoskin Avenue, University of Toronto, Ontario) 20181019 - Visual Analytics Lab
Synthesis maps @OCADU_SFI graduate students for Systems Thinking Ontario monthly meeting. Big screen of the Visual Analytics Lab a special affordance not usually available to us, with a long conference table instead of sitting in a circle. (OCADU, 205 Richmond Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20180716 - Open Innovation Learning
Presentation is ready, and softcopy book arrived in time for official launch tomorrow night. The printed paper isn't that expensive, but the ePub is the way to go. The physicality of 690 A4 pages may be easier on the eyes, but the volume is heavy to hold. openinnovationlearning.com . Daylight @DrupalTO meetup seems to have not been the pattern for this venue. Getting an update on D8, haven't attended since the days of D6. Architectural changes mean front end frameworks like Angular, Ember and React are now at play. (BrightLane, King Street West, Toronto. Ontario) 20160328 - Calligraphy studio, Wuhan U Tech
Informal tea led to exercise of writing my Chinese name in a variety of styles. In central China, Mandarin speakers seem more comfortable formally addressing me as Wu, rather than the anglicization of Ing derived from the Cantonese Ng. For future visits, I'll need reactivate spoken Mandarin that i last studied in 1980. - PanAm Athletes Village under construction
Canary District, Cherry Street by Front Street, with unfinished apartments in the background. Roads are blocked to traffic while streetcar tracks are being put in, but construction workers at the end of day don't pay much attention to a cyclist (Toronto) 20140507 - Chinese Herbs For Fever
Three bags of undescribed roots and twigs for decoctions after Chinese doctor diagnosed weakness, fever and slight cough. After a last night's phone call with Telehealth Ontario nurse, I expect a better resolution with this approach instead of visiting the clinic with western medicine. Had woke up feeling better, but fatigue set in within a few hours. I biked very slowly to Chinatown. 20111029 1344
