- Wellesley-Parliament Square
Street corner wall has water babbling from top over brick and slabs, fronted by green bush, and obscuring the parking lot behind. Minor decorative amenity at the south end of a complex of high rise towers, as the densest population district in the city. Proposals to redevelop the area since 2018 would probably repurpose the surface parking lot, and presumably remove this mundane feature. (Wellesley-Parliament Square, Rose Avenue, St. jamestown, Toronto, Ontario) 20211019 - Philosopher's Walk
Placid footpath following contour of Taddle Creek, east of Trinity College and west of the Faculty of Music, attracts pedestrians after work, and dogs with their walkers. This week would normally be the calm before students move into residences, and the campus coming alive. New school term will surely see new protocols. (Philosopher's Walk, Queen's Park Circle, University of Toronto) 20200901 - SystemsThinkingTO
Selecting #PatternLanguage cards at #SystemsThinkingTO, first @GroupWorksDeck then #LiberatingVoices, each followed by generative conversation. Artifacts decentered discussion on good/bad meetings and loving/hating our cities, leading to deeper learning about acquaintances. Games night tries alternative ways of learning about #SystemsThinking. (SystemsThinkingTO, LoyaltyOne, King Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20190529 - St. Michael's Hospital
Signed up for MyChart personal record app at Patient Registration on Donnelly wing south, after seeing new brochure. Appointment with orthopedic surgeon about Achilles tendon confirmed healing, the additional mobility and strength is left to the physiotherapist. (St. Michael's Hospital, Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20180329 - OCADU
Strong turnout for @sophiesanniti on Behaviour Change for Climate Change, Systems Thinking Ontario 53rd monthly meeting, first of the year. Early research into Terror Management Theory, derived from Ernest Becker (1973) Denial of Death. (Lambert Lounge, OCADU, McCaul Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20170117 - Consensas
Systems journals for @consensas @ftjco. @ryantaylor prefers hardcopy for handwritten annotations, I've moved to softcopy for font sizing on tablets. Five cartons of Systems Research and Behavioral Science, Systemic Action and Practice Research some ISSS conference books and General Systems Yearbooks from 1998; plus Organization Science since 1994. Metaphorically old wine for new bottles, inside packaging courtesy of the LCBO. (Consensas, Parliament Street, Cabbagetown, Toronto, Ontario) 20170903 - Tikkurila
Suburban hub where airport rail ring connects to main northbound intercity line towards Tampere. Large station connects with buses, many shops inside. Half hour wait was made longer by train 30 minutes behind schedule. Might have hopped on commuter train instead, but tickets are specific to times. .(Tikkurila, Finland) 20170809 - Banana Leaf
Asam Fish Head uncommon in Malaysian restaurants, authentic taste evokes memories of visit to Singapore many years ago. Dish came last after beef with eggplant, and roti prata appetizer. Multicultural cuisine is a benefit of diversity in the Bay Area. - TheRex
Last night of @RexHotelToronto @TaraKannangara @Colin_Story @MackLongpre #ChrisPruden #JulianAB Sundays residency of August. Two sets, new CD on sneak preview in advance of official release. Tara Kannangara (vocals, trumpet), Colin Story (guitar), Chris Pruden (piano), Julian Anderson-Bowes (bass), Mackenzie Longpre (drums) (Rex Hotel, Toronto) 20150830 - Glass overhead walkways
From Frank Whittle at south to Alan Turing at north, buildings connected to encourage random interactions between researchers walking and thinking. Design of campus with buildings below 4 stores an antithesis of skyscraper thinking. Statue of Turing on plaza a little further north may be overearnest recognition, as he was never part of this university, and would only come home to Guildford on weekends while a teenager at boarding school. (University of Surrey, Stag Hill campus, Guildford, UK) 20150707 - AsianPLoP 2015 introduction
Experienced pattern language shepherds start off the conference by demonstrating how a writer's workshop works. The AsianPLoP style can have a more interactive dialogue with author, than the rigourous PLoP style where the author remains outside the discussion. (4th Asian Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs, Waseda University, Tokyo) 20150306 - Stainless steel elk
Sculpture by Mathieu Isabelle 2013 "The Great One" in front of duty free store in the airport terminal on a Christmas Day. Changing planes for an overnight flight to Roissy Charles de Gaulle, Paris, France (Montreal Trudeau Airport) 20141225 - Distillery District Sketchbook Project
Queue for @SketchbookProj Mobile Library at the Distillery District seems long as compared to Toronto Public Library selections. Since people can check in their works, maybe that takes longer! (Trinity Square Toronto) 20130608 1431 - 20120620 103133 ConvocationHall listchecking DI
