Systems Thinking in Environmental Studies ENVS 4523 course, session on the Ecosystem Approach. Martin Bunch reviews early research project on water quality in the Cooum River in Chennai, India. Earlier, SHN spoke about AaltoMexico lab evolution over 3 years. I made some comments on master's student presentations. Learning about different styles of pedagogy in different universities. (Environmental Studies building, York University, Toronto, Ontario) 20151123 - Yonge-Dundas Square
Labour Day early evening, no formal events, but buskers draw their own audience. Crowds dissipated a few minutes later, with another performer announcing the next show. Stores mostly closed, many restaurants dark in celebration of labour. (Yonge-Dundas Square, Toronto) 20150907 - Yonge and Grenville Streets
Two storey storefronts demolished, foundations for @YCcondos 66 floor glass tower in progress. Intensification of downtown core, a few blocks north of Ryerson University and Yonge-Dundas Square. I don't remember this construction project starting, the warm weather means bicycling more frequently. (462 Yonge Street, Toronto) 20150509 - Woodbine Park Main Stage keyboards
Beaches Jazz Festival Toronto, Parc X Trio, Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier on piano - Woodbine Park Main Stage jazz
Beaches Jazz Festival Toronto, Parc X Trio - Woodbine Park Main Stage jazz
@ParcXTrio from Montreal @BeachesJazz playing intensely. Audience seeking shade on a bright summer day, a few chairs with canopies on a large field of grass. Park ringed by food trucks offering a variety of cuisines. (Woodbine Park Main Stage, Toronto) 20150718 - Woodbine Park Main Stage drums
Beaches Jazz Festival Toronto, Parc X Trio, Alain Bourgeois on drums - Woodbine Park Main Stage bass

Lecture by @ireneclng on "Creating New Markets in the Digital Economy. Contents included updates of 2013 book, plus "Payment is applause: markets and business models past, present and future" given at Wolfson@50 anniversary lecture on the previous date. (Wolfson College, Cambridge, England) 20151119 - Wellenspiel, Krems
Conference dinner by the Danube River in Austria. Weather has been warm, around 30 degrees C and sunny. Mountain altitude, air is clean. Some familiar faces from prior pattern language conferences. (Krems, Austria) 20150704 - Urban Mill
Lecture on Planetary Boundaries by @katri1iisa for Systems Thinking 1 class of Creative Sustainability programme. Easing students into world issues, deeper theory left to in the spring session. Venue has nice projection equipment, Prezi shows up with slides on 3 sequential screens. Space full of students taking major or minor, plus a few observers catching up on learning. (Urban Mill, Otaniemi, Aalto University, Espoo, Finland) 20151009 - Unwin Ave bridges
Graceful bike bridge has two lanes, chunky car bridge has single lane. Just west of the entrance of the Outer Harbour Marina in the Portlands, following the Toronto Waterfront Trail. Smokestack of the decommissioned Hearn Generating Station in the background. (475 Unwin Street, Toronto) 20150514 - University of Hull
Flowerbed shows hardy plants, as temperatures in decline in mid-November England. Having an unofficial visit to campus, as past weekend of cybernetics events has exhausted the local community. University buildings look pretty much the same as prior trips, although the people are changing. (Brynmor Jones Library, University of Hull, UK) 20151116 - University College, West Hall
Late afternoon sun illuminates stained glass rose window at annual book sale. West Hall held the University of Toronto Museum when the building was burned in the fire of 1890. The original window was created as a secular installation by Joseph McCausland in 1858. When the building reopened in 1892, the rose window must have been repaired or recreated. Looking for old books that are not available for borrowing from a public library, my search on this visit resulted in zero finds. (West Hall, University College, University of Toronto) 20151016 - U Waterloo convocation
Picked up gown, found name in program, waiting in the bleachers for ceremonies in about an hour. Brothers and grandfather came to see Adam receive diploma for Masters degree in Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering. (University of Waterloo) 20150613
