- Monday night family dinner out
Seating for 6, ordered for 8. Way too much good, leftovers predictable. (Markham) 20140512 - Monastiraki underground
Archeological ruins of stone walls securing banks of River Eridanos, from 5th century B.C. Excavated under Monastiraki Square when the metro station as constructed in the late 1990s. Located above the level of trains, the site is visible through a glass ceiling in the square on ground level. (Monastiraki metro station, Athens, Greece) 20151114 - Monastiraki
First ride on back of motorcycle, from Athens suburb Gerakas to city centre Monastiraki. Greek motorbike style is on dotted line between automobile lanes, where most drivers give enough space to squeeze through. A.L. lent me his helmet, and took a slower place than single passenger bikes. Wall poster speaks to mood on political situation in Greece: Open your eyes: Time to wake up: Enough is enough is enough is enough. More motorcycle tomorrow, there's a general strike! (Monastiraki, Athens, Greece) 20151111 - Monarch Park underpass
StreetARToronto mural by Elicser celebrates mother nature and mothers depicted in micro-financed community development by Stephen Lewis. Ribbons were cut in November 2014, just discovered in springtime bike ride east on Danforth Ave. past Greenwood Ave, with a little turn south. (Monarch Park, Toronto) 20150516 - Mon Sheong Court
Third son turning over winning hand in first round of mahjong, still learning the rules of the game. Grandfather then easily won the next three hands, with second son taking the last, as fourth son and grandfather blocked each other waiting for the same tiles to turn up. This new experience was described as more dynamic than poker, where the skill is in everyone counting cards visible to all. (Mon Sheong Court, McNicoll Avenue, Scarborough, Ontario) 20240217 - Modern One
Vortex sculpture #AnishKapoor (1983) Untittled is black pigment on cement, polystyrene and gesso. Whirling energy references Hindu references to masculine and feminine. Gallery is relatively small, with Modern Two across the street temporarily closed for a new exhibition. (National Galleries of Scotland: Modern One, Belford Road, Edinburgh, Scotland) 20250509 - MOCCA sculpture
On top of pole, swirling steel bands, Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art courtyard. Bright spring day on Queen Street West (Toronto) 20120321 1748 - MOCCA Courtyard
Dean Baldwin (2015) "Queen Street Memorial Fountain", one of three parts of the "Queen West Yacht Club" installation. Running water trickles, steps away from Queen Street West and the streetcar. Picnic tables outside give the opportunity to hang out in a convivial scenario, in the final weekend before the MOCCA closes doors at this location, and moves farther west. (Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto) 20150822 - MOCAD
Normal Shift by Coco Bruner at Art X Detroit , 10.5x15 foot Baltic Birch Plywood floor, invites viewers to walk on it at their own risk. Kresge Arts Foundation sponsors show in Midtown. (Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit) 20150419 - MIT Sloan School of Management
In 1982, I was #2 on a list of 1 for a PhD program in Management Information Systems at the MIT Sloan School, applying with a Masters degree from Northwestern U. with high recommendations. Went to UCLA PhD program, dropped out first day, then to U. British Columbia for 2 years before dropping out. Really need to finish this PhD at Aalto U. in 2016, as have been around graduate schools for so long. The MIT decision going another way would have been a completely different life. (Siteman Dining Room, MIT Building E-62, Cambridge, Massachusetts) 20151231 - Mississaga Street East
Bright but cool spring afternoon, short day trip north to remove the complexities of online meetings. Still early in season for tourists, storefronts exhibit enthusiasm for their businesses. Outside the bustle of urban centres, there's more calm. (Mississaga Street East, Orillia, Ontario) 20220420 - Minas Channel
Arrived at low tide to see the water marks on the exposed pier, with the lighthouse across the Minas Channel. The Minas Basin has some of the highest tidal ranges recorded, as a sub-basin of the Fundy Basin, an inlet of the Bay of Fundy. Enjoyed local seafood at the restaurant with the Harbour View, named accurately, but without expected elevation. (Minas Channel, Pier Road, Parrsboro, Nova Scotia) 20230829 - Milliken Square
Burst of greenery in interior hallway of strip mall with difficult-to-find entry door. Focused entirely on Chinese clientele, many units still vacant from failed businesses during the pandemic shutdown. Signage outside suggested taking a peek, a brief exploration after my father's appointment across the parking lot. (Milliken Square Shopping centre, Milliken Boulevard, Scarborough, Ontario) 20230509 - Millennium Bridge
St. Paul's Cathedral across the River Thames, from the third floor cafe of the Tate Modern. Truncated reservation by B&B in Guildford opened opportunity for single Saturday night in London. Museum is one of the few cultural institutions open late. (Tate Modern, London, England) 20150711 - Millenium Park entry, Peterborough, Ontario
Placid waterfall falling onto granite, at the entry to park on Water Street, in Peterborough, Ontario. Follows the fluid theme of the Trent-Severn Waterway locks nearby. (Peterborough, Ontario) 20120828 0907
