- The Drawing Room SF
Friday, 8:30pm, after dinner in the Mission District, encountered a lively art gallery, with a musician packing up after a performance. Large variety of styles in the Women Rising 2022 exhibition, connecting local artists by making their work accessible. Valencia Street has many blocks closed to traffice for pedestrians, and restaurants spill over the sidewalk onto the street. (The Drawing Room SF, Valencia Street, Mission District, San Francisco, California) 20220429 - Pritzker Pavilion
Free @TheSeaAndCake show, walking with @redesign around @Millennium_Park after dinner. Families relaxing on blankets on the lawn in back, serious listeners up at the front. A flashback to graduate school days, when I was living carefree in the Chicago area. Natives are friendly. (Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park, Chicago, Illinois) 20180816 - DI_20150926 041535 WoluweSaintPierre ceremony official
- Ethos
Catching up with @EllenPruyne on shifts in lives and careers over the past few years. Working amongst millennials, while senior leaders resist change and defer moving on. Stress amongst expats higher, as Brexit terms are still under negotiation. (Ethos, Fitzrovia, London, UK) 20171207 - Arsenal Contemporary Art
Reflective fabric 40 metres long, stitched by @MataAhoCollective (2014) Kaokao #1, part of @TorontoBiennial. Pieced together by Maori artists, in a tukutuku chevron design used both as a military symbol and birthing maps. Size shown in relation to another visitor, innocently reading the description card for the work. (Arsenal Contempotary Gallery, Ernest Avenue, Junction Triangle, Toronto, Ontario) 20220507 - Riverside neighbourhood
Arborists @TOtrees outside my window this morning, sawing at the linden tree in our front yard. Pruner in the articulated boom lift (cherry picker) with shears above, collector of branches on the ground, below. The sapling was owned by the city when we moved in so many decades ago, and has been professionally maintained mostly without our attention. (Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20220331 - SystemsThinkingTO
August session as games night, based on success of June episode that was scored highly. Learned that participants enjoy participating, rather than just watching slide presentations and talking heads. Getting up from rows-and-columns tables a good move. (SystemsThinkingTO, LoyaltyOne, King Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20180823 - Lake Forest
Shown the 9-foot Bosendorfer grand piano in the home of my master's degree advisor. One of the last instruments built by the Austrian instrument-maker, before the company was acquired by the Japanese. The couple downscaled to an empty-nester home, I had forgotten that DY had seen the big house for 4 kids in 1984, on our original migration driving from Vancouver to Toronto. (Lake Forest, Illinois) 20180815 - Muzda Bakery
What kind of bread is that?" "Just bread". Shop touting Gujarati specialities and Indian biscuits offers fresh western style wheat loaves in a flat boule shape. Toronto east side scene of Chinese bicyclist in shorts asking for 3 loaves, a South Asian visitor dressed in white robes suggesting to buy 4, so I acquiesced to take home 4 loaves. StreetARToronto mural by Elicser celebrates mother nature and mothers depicted in micro-financed community development by Stephen Lewis. Ribbons were cut in November 2014, just discovered in springtime bike ride east on Danforth Ave. past Greenwood Ave, with a little turn south. (Monarch Park, Toronto) 20150516 - AC856 new 787-8
New config, see USB, still looking for AC power outlet. Sad goodbye to DY, she had traveled with me since July. Will wake up in London early. - Trees sculpture, Stephen Ave
Ten stainless steel 20-plus-metre sculptures, built on concrete caissons that extend to almost the same depth underground. On the Stephen Avenue (8th Ave. SW) pedestrian mall at 3rd St. SW in downtown Calgary. Donated by Trizec Hahn Office Properties to the city in 2000, with Cohos Evamy Partners Architect, directed by Jablonsky, Ast And Partners, fabricated by Empire Iron Works (Calgary, Alberta) 20120328 1750 - Cayne's
Selected dark roasted decaf pod for free sample coffee from machine in store. Declined on extra flavourings. Afternoon of driving around Thornhill and Markham for small errands. Not the best date for a long-married couple, but still gives us time together to talk. (Cayne's Super Housewares, Thornhill, Ontario) 20160114 - YUL Duty Free
Linear ceiling lights on the long walk from domestic gates to international. Passed time on phone calls before flying over the Atlantic. Appreciating the French influence while still in Canada. (YUL Montreal Trudeau Airport) 20161124
