Housecooling party @csiTO @tonyasurman reminiscing over 14 years in this venue, vacating occupants to move 459 feet across the street to the purchased and renovated property at 192 next week. Asked members to bring the spirit of this place to the new building. Broke her train of thought abruptly, noticing the newborn cradled by father, foreseeing a next generation of social innovator. (Centre for Social Innovation, Robertson Building, 215 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20180914 - CSI 215
Playshop @csiTO @kcscooper @CycleToronto @anika__ Al Chick on #designthinking prototyping for youth and adults on cycling safety. Not related to, but coincident with City of Toronto deadline for #VisionZero applications, towards reducing collisions of pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and motorists. (Centre for Social Innovation, 215 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20180726 - CSI 192 Spadina
Design Session for Social Innovation in Canada @SICanadaTeam @csiTO, attendees introducing selves and sharing breakout conversations. Outline of progress since preliminary consultation late last year, seeking input into beta-beta thinking on pan-Canadian programs under development. Given timeboxed scope for questions, meeting innovators with mutual interests, we barely had time to get past introductions. (Centre for Social Innovation, Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20190718 - CSI 192
Despite campaigns to disconnect from Facebook, @karppi @DecimalUOIT @UOITCDMS speaker series says that most people are still online. Facebook is still the most popular social platform, and continues to grow in less developed countries. Community now framed in terms of engagement, continuing to encourage bonds that dissuade users from leaving. (Centre for Social Innovation, Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20190128 - CSI 192
In era of big data, semantic web gives meaning @andrewiliadis @DecimalUOIT @UOITCDMS speaker series. From seminal work of #JohnSowa and #DougLenat, semantics solves many varieties of data described in heterogeneous ways, with controlled vocabularies of preferred tags. Schemas, graphs, ontologies now in the age of social media and search engines. (Centre for Social Innovation, Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20190128 - CSI 192
First Climate Ventures peer circle on Systems Thinking @csiTO. Sketching on flipchart sheet as a reference artifact to keep track of conversation on the complex versus the complicated. Informal meeting was scheduled on short notice, we'll try to meet Monday afternoons every three weeks. (Centre for Social innovation, 192 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20181022 - CSI 192
At Climate Ventures space @csiTO for afternoon meeting. Discussed programs, research, potential peer circle topics. Open to new ideas for the new cohort. I'm thinking that starting small may work better for emerging methods. (Centre for Social Innovation, 192 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20181004 - CSI 192
First salad day @csiTO, second official day in new building after the move across the street. Acknowledgement of traditional lands, plus back stories from DECAs. Conversation tables set up with suggested discussion starters on the theme of home. Contributed homemade daikon carrot pickle resulting from spouse having bought too many root vegetables. I'm not Vietnamese, but can follow a simple recipe. (Centre for Social innovation, 192 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20180925 - Crustaceans in tank
Crab towering over lobsters may have slightly longer life, as restaurant had double lobster special. Family dinner with visiting niece fulling in for errant son. Winter day slightly less cold, with snowfall slowing traffic uptown. (Perfect Chinese Restaurant, Scarborough, Ontario) 20150221 - Cruise Ship Terminal
When/if a Great Lakes passenger vessel requiring a second floor gangway docks for a visit, the Port of Toronto is ready. However, the pandemic has pre-empted the cruising season for the year, not that more than a handful of ships have been previously scheduled. The other side of the building has been rented out for film production offices, and the massive parking lot is cordoned off for automobile dealer inventories. (Cruise Ship Terminal, Unwin Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20200624 - Crowd outside Jim's Restaurant
Orange cones on Queen Street mean film crew, not customers in diner. Also cones across street suggest shot will have actors walk over outside ice cream shop. Life when we live beside the film district. (Toronto) 20141124
