- Union Station
Floor-to-ceiling mural @blakeangeconeb (2023) Sharing, about transmission of knowledge through storytelling to the young, the third of three in the Eighth Fire series. The Oak Room used to be a restaurant at the northwest corner of the railway station, removed to provide a throughfare to the Skywalk and Union Pearson Express. Thousands of people must walk by the painting every day, hard to judge if the people sitting in the collection of chairs further west if they're waiting for someone, or eluding the late fall cold. (Union Station, Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20231119 - Tate Modern
Louise Bourgeois 1989-93 "Cell (Eyes and Mirror)" and 2001 "Legs", on the 4th of 10 floors in the Switch Tower opened in summer 2016. Crossover level happens on the 4th floor over the Turbine Hall, Boiler House to the north. Circular stairs complement the elevators down to ground level. Big space, lots of room to show more art. (Switch Tower 4th floor, Tate Modern, Bankside, London, England) 20161206 - Salina, Iowa
Family dog watching out picture window onto rolling landscape of fields and roads in farm country. Temperature has swung from winter to summer within 3 days, rush to planting will be underway with forecasts for clear weather. (Salina, Iowa) 20160405 - Fairfield, Iowa
Traditional American Thanksgiving, at friend's house in Iowa. Started meal earlier, at noon, relaxed leisurely pace. (Fairfield, Iowa) 20151126 - Cranbrook Art Museum
A Tiger's Stripes exhibition @CranbrookArtMus @tyrrellwinston, two paintings and sculpture. On left, (2022) Hard to Kill a Spartan; on right (2022) Fab 5, both aluminum panels with auto paint. On floor, (2022) Chamberlain's Dance a twisting of bleachers from the athletic field. (Cranbrook Art Museum, Woodward Avenue, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) 20220716 - Dragon City Mall
View from Spadina and Dundas, after clan dinner. Rare occasion when everyone is together. Rainy day. (Dragon City Mall, Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20170521 - Peter Jones presenting at #RSD3
@redesign on Flourishing Business in Oslo, while @aupward in Cleveland. Living up to Relating Systems Thinking and Design title for symposium. - Vesuvio Cafe
Need more practice on the art of wasting time and chilling. Walked around Chinatown and saw the Chinese Historical Society, now tired. Headed out into North Beach, so joining the Beat generation seemed natural. Ginger beer and green tea available. (Vesuvio Cafe, Columbus Avenue, North Beach, San Francisco, California) 20170319 - Lower Don Trail
Bike path afternoon rush hour eastbound beside Lakeshore Blvd. E. and ramp up to East Gardiner Extension. Remarkable for stream of cyclists moving at a quick pace, in packs after crossing the traffic lights at Don Roadway. Paved path the result of demolished elevation in 2001. (Lower Don Trail, Lakeshore Boulevard East, Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto. Ontario) 20160913 - Metropolia U., Bulevardi campus
Lectured in Industrial Management master's program, collaborating on generative pattern language writing for an hour, after 90 minutes of lecture. Students are mostly working professionals with practical experience, so we jointly felt our way through using the format for service systems thinking. We've come a long way since the program was initiated in 2006. (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Bulevardi, Helsinki, Finland) 20161202 - EdiDX
Wrong theory @sdadich @EditDX is not ignoring the rules, or failing fast. It's making all of the right choices, building consensus to find common values, and then breaking one thing. Otherwise, everything converges to look the same and is boring. www.wired.com/2014/09/wrong-theory/ (EditDX, 21 East Don Roadway, East Harbour, Toronto, Ontario) 20170929 - Taddle Creek Park
Ilan Sandler (2009) "The Vessel", 4 kilometres (the length of Taddle Creek now buried under urban Toronto) of stainless steel rod bent into shape. Water flows into an underground cistern for reuse to irrigate the park. Installation was commemorated in June 2011, commissioned by the City of Toronto. (Taddle Creek Park, 40 Bedford Road, Toronto) 20150720 - Victoria University Quad
Trio @robocchipinti bass, @adreanf piano, #MarkKelso drums @TorontoJazzFest . Live music changeup in program, in respect of recent societal changes, to play Somewhere (West Side Story, Leonard Bernstein) followed by Is This America (Pat Metheny). Emotion in music sometimes doesn't need words. (Victoria College Quadrangle, University of Toronto) 20220626 - Woodbine Beach
Mounds of earth signal that lagoon is man-made, and the beach is renewed each spring for warm weather recreation. Public park opened in the late 1970s was originally a marsh, with major dredging in the 1920s. (Woodbine Beach, Ashbridges Bay, Toronto, Ontario) 20170427 - Ryerson Student Learning Centre
Entered old building from Victoria Street Lane, not thinking of connection to new Yonge Street entrance. Library is open Sunday into evening, so Ryerson University students must not see summer as a special season. With eduroam, Internet access works the same as at home, so bicycling was just for exercise. (Ryerson Student Learning Centre, Yonge Street, Toronto) 20160612
