- DY Pearson T1 Departures
Diana starting on AC flight 11 hours eastbound where weather should improve by 20 degrees Celsius. Sister KSY intercepting on route, to fly together. Sister SKY should meet at arrival. Reversal of roles, as DY usually drops us at airport. (Pearson international Airport Terminal 1 Departures, Toronto) 20140202 1436 - E Randolph Street at N. Columbus Drive
On @chiarchitecture walking tour, looking north to @studiogang skyscapers Aqua (2009) tower with irregularly shaped balconies, and Vista (2020) blue-green three towers with 83rd floor void space so that wind effects more safely blow through. Excellent docent Bill covered Must See Chicago route in 90 minutes, more walking than other focused tours. First in a series of guided excursions of the Windy City. (E. Randolph Street at N. Columbus Drive, Chicago, Illinois) 20220712 - East Chinatown
Trinity Supermarket at 587 Gerrard Street East was closed when we came back from travels, and now seems permanently shut. Disappointed that our neighbourhood stores aren't doing so well lately, probably due to bright and shiny big box competitors. Hopefully, the demise of one store will boost the business for the other supermarket down the street, Fu Yao. (East Chinatown, Toronto) 20151030 - East Ocean Restaurant
Meeting with maternal Yee aunts, uncle and cousin for dim sum in the East Bay. Mishmash of languages with English, Toisan and Mandarin mixed across generations. Years between gatherings of elders, more opportunities for the young who travel more. (East Ocean Seafood Restaurant, Webster Street, Alameda, California) 20190706 - East Ocean Restaurant
In line for Sunday dim sum, sampling Chinese restaurants for future nuptial festivities. In California East Bay, have to drive across multiple cities to reach authentic banquet scale venues. (East Coast Seafood Restaurant, Alameda, California) 20151213 - East West Futons
Remote viewing of product selection for futon cover, videoconference on smartphone for opinion from home. Agreed on smoothest fabric in upholstery grade, available in grey. Replacing an older futon, we tried out three models and selected the firmest. While it's possible to order online, it's worth the drive uptown to see and feel furniture in person. (East West Futons, Cartwright Avenue, North York, Ontario) 20190908 - East York Town Centre
Mall walking on crutches, should soon graduate to cane. Enclosed shopping centre in Thorncliffe Park is central to Pakistani and Afghan community. Bulletin board in supermarket has homemakers offering special cooked breakfast on weekends, presumably too much work for fully employed weekday employees. (East York Town Centre, Overlea Boulevard, East York, Ontario) 20180305 - Eastern Avenue at Carlaw Avenue
Sign of the times with "Cyclists Accommodated With Only Minor Delays", suggesting that automobiles and trucks will be completed diverted. Consistent with the joke that Canada has two seasons: winter, and construction. Temperature swing of 10 degrees Celsius has citizens abandoning parkas. (Eastern Avenue at Carlaw Avenue, Riverside neighbourhood, Toronto, Ontario) 20210310 - Eastern Avenue at Leslie Street
Just before lunch, electrical power went out at the house. Reports of a tow truck hitting an pole led to @TorontoHydro forecast of service restoration within 4 hours. Biked over to find lineman finishing off rewiring. Lights came back on 30 minutes before sunset. (Eastern Avenue at Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario) 20210115 - Eastern Iowa Airport
Wooden blinds in skylight providing shade to sunny Iowa heat. Drive to airport routed past fields of tall corn, alongside the gravel road, the two-lane blacktop, and then divided highway. Returning home after 18 days in the U.S. of conference, then isolated writing and reviews, seems like a European tour, but the jet lag will be minimal. (Eastern Iowa Airport, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) 20160810 - Eastern Iowa Airport, pier C
Non-coniferous trees in white and blue signify holiday season has arrived. Added to the hall of flags on the bridge from landside to airside C gates. Low stress airport with most traffic back and forth to Chicago O'Hare, so few distractions for passengers waiting to depart. (Cedar Rapids CID, Iowa) 20141213 - EdiDX
Wrong theory @sdadich @EditDX is not ignoring the rules, or failing fast. It's making all of the right choices, building consensus to find common values, and then breaking one thing. Otherwise, everything converges to look the same and is boring. www.wired.com/2014/09/wrong-theory/ (EditDX, 21 East Don Roadway, East Harbour, Toronto, Ontario) 20170929 - EditDX
Free lunch @EditDX Feeding the 5000 demo of cutting global food waste in half by 2030, as Sustainable Development Goal. Made from ingredients that would have been discarded, enjoyed fall minestrone and potato focaccia bread. Separate queue for vegans. Amidst volunteers, white hats from @GBCChefSchool. (EditDX, 21 Donway Road, East Harbour, Toronto, Ontario) 20171008 - EditDX
Good design @alicerawsthorn @EditDX has usefulness, beauty and integrity in light of sustainable development goals (unlike 1969 Olivetti Valentina typewriter in museums). Design is an agent of change that can help us to make sense of what is happening, and to turn it to our advantage ... if society allows it to do so. Digest at ingbrief.wordpress.com/2017/10/08/20171008-1310-alice-raw... (EditDX, 21 Don Roadway, East Harbour, Toronto, Ontario) 20171008 - EditDX
Soap kettle interior illuminated @EditDX, in the former Lever Brothers plant. History of industry in a massive abandoned factory near urban centre celebrated, rather than hidden. (EditDX, 21 Don Roadway, East Harbour, Toronto, Ontario) 20171003
