- Tabule
Accept invitations when a friend calls to meet for lunch! First met AL when we moved back to Toronto in 1984, and we haven't kept in good contact over the years. Noontime rain showers changed original plans, he suggested a destination in my neighbourhood. (Tabule, Riverside district, Queen Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20170720 - Taddle Creek Park
Ilan Sandler (2009) "The Vessel", 4 kilometres (the length of Taddle Creek now buried under urban Toronto) of stainless steel rod bent into shape. Water flows into an underground cistern for reuse to irrigate the park. Installation was commemorated in June 2011, commissioned by the City of Toronto. (Taddle Creek Park, 40 Bedford Road, Toronto) 20150720 - Tafoni Trail
In amongst the redwoods, @JimSpohrer assesses the probability of the Tafoni Sandstone Monolith rolling downhill as minimal. The honeycomb weathering takes thousands of years as water dissolves calcite and redeposits as crystals, resulting in craters and bulges. Five mile hike outbound on Tafoni Trail, led down to valley stream, concluding with a long incline back on the Fir Trail. (Tafoni Trail, El Corte de Madera Creek Preserve, Redwood City, California) 20220425 - Tai Feng Yuan Ruijing Road
Second purchase of luobuma 罗布麻, from a neighbourhood store, yields larger green leaves priced slightly cheaper, as compared to prior smaller brown shrivels at a higher price from the main street. While luobuma is not available in North America, this traditional herb that reduces hypertension seems easy to find in Shanghai. Will the lightly dried green leaves have more antioxidants, leading to greater efficacy than the macerated brown leaves? (Tai Feng Yuan, Ruijin 2nd Road, Huangpu Qu, Shanghai, PR China) 20190326 - Taiwan Design Museum
Exhibiton on Designs For The Next 100 Years by design firm NOSIGNER looks into solving ecological problems. Follows the approach of Evolutional Creativity from Eisuke Tachikawa of mutation and selection in biological evolution to create astounding beauty and function. Award-winning book written in Japanese was translated into Chinese and published in Taiwan. (Taiwan Design Museum, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Xinyi District, Taipei City, Taiwan) 20231015 - Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (TPE)
Of five travellers, 3 winners in the Taiwan the Lucky Land promotion. Registered on a few days before flying, won NT$5000 on Easycard that we can use on transit and in convenience stores. Welcoming gesture for Canadians visiting Taiwan! (Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (TPE), Taiwan) 20231009 - Takajarvi docks well
Unexpected Easter snow after thaw. Docks still stacked up for the winter. Too early to prime the well head in the forest. Cottage will be more welcoming when the temperature rises. (Takajarvi, Finland) 20100409 - Takeshita Dori
Quick trip to Harajuku to visit the Daiso dollar store, since couldn't find the one in Shinjuku. After 8 p.m., still some young people hanging on Takeshita Dori, but Wednesday isn't the most popular night out. (Takeshita Dori, Harajuku, Tokyo, Japan) 20150304 - Talbot Rice Gallery
Sculpture two stories high #KirstyRussell (2024) Runners and Vents, repurposes the velvet from the artist's grandparents' home. Embroidered symbols on the fabric represent the ducts or channels of lost wax casting that are usually discarded when the bronze is cast. Part of a show from 10 emerging Scottish-based resident artists. (Talbot Rice Gallery, University of Edinburgh, South Bridge, Edinburgh) 20240510 - Tân Bình district
First formal meeting between the families, as the Permission Ceremony (Le Dam Ngo) where the groom's father requests the bride be allowed to marry. Using Google Translate between English and Vietnamese, verbal agreement was made without fuss. Two families are now to be joined thorugh the marriage, and with future children. (Tân Bình district, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) 20231004 - Tangent Cafe
Local jazz listings found @wmatsushita in Nicholas Bracewell The Collective with Chris Fraser, Daniel Howard. He was surprised to see us, since at home in Toronto is a more likely encounter. The variety of beers in this venue seems to attract customers more than the food, which was good. (Tangent Cafe, Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC) 20180426 - Tank Shanghai
Team bonding experience at new private gallery opened just last week, on site of five former oil storage tanks for Longhua Airport (1922-1966). One tank closed for private showing, vicinity populated with fashion models and the well-dressed overflowing from terminals of the West Bund Art Center. Queue to enter the Teamlab installation a good opportunity to discuss our background contexts. (Tank Shanghai, Longteng Avenue, West Bund, Shanghai, PR China) 20190331 - Taqueria El Zarape
Rico tacos (carnitas, chorizo, asada), cecina rice+beans dinner clearly made to order, for neighbourhood Mexican lunch amongst many local postings on Sunday afternoon. Routing off I-80 well worth the detour for most memorable meal in a while. Welcomed break in the middle of an 8 hour travel day. (Taqueria El Zarape, Jefferson Street, Joliet, Illinois) 20161218 - Taqueria La Bamba
Intercept dinner, direct from airport, with relatives due to fly out early next morning. All of us live on the Internet, so conversations online just continue in person. Coming to California presents the local opportunity for Mexican (Salvadoran) restaurants that we don't have in the north. (Taqueria La Bamba, Rengstorff Avenue, Mountain View, California) 20190703 - Tate Britain
Walking and talking with #AndyWilkins through galleries of paintings and sculptures, discussing alternative framings of systems changes. Suggested that health systems might be more precisely expressed as health ecosystems, following a contextual world theory of threads alongside threads, rather than an organicist world theory of part into wholes. We will continue dialogue about whether it's better to try fixing issues in Western philosophy rooted in structuralism, or try yinyang as Classical Chinese philosophy rooted in processualism. In front of Zeinab Saleh (2024) First Morning + (2024) Water Has Memory, both acrylic paintings tracing both fleeting movement and suspended time. (Tate Britain, Millbank, London, UK) 20240517
