- Systems Thinking Ontario
Wrapped up meeting @OCADsLab on chartering a #SystemsChanges program with multi-year horizons, as a change from previous #SystemsThinking Ontario meetings that were episodic. General agreement towards moving forward, lots of details to be worked out. (OCADU Strategic Innovation Lab, 205 Richmond Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20190114 - PLoP-PUARL 2018
Plenary @doug_schuler on "Pattern Languages are Particularly Well-Suited for Addressing Wicked Problems". (Portland Urban Architecture Research Lab International Conference, NW Couch Street, Portland, Oregon) 20181026 - Danube U. Krems
Fall colours on Alaunbach stream from deck beside controlled flow through the campus of Danube U. Krems. Walking up from city centre hotel, pedestrian access to path beside the local prison. First day of Purplsoc conference, remembering some familiar faces, discussing with other semi-famous in the field. (Purplsoc conference, Danube University Krems, Austria) 20171019 - Verkkokauppa
Sunday shopping in busy store, slow moves from waiting for salesperson, to roaming store with pager until merchandise brought upstairs, to long check out line. Friend amused as I squeezed in some extra questions of clerk out of order, as a rudeness excusable to foreigners but not locals. Computer parts to prepare laptop for another year behind the Chinese firewall. (Verkkokauppa, Tyynenmerenkatu, Helsinki, Finland) 20170813 - Dragon City Mall
View from Spadina and Dundas, after clan dinner. Rare occasion when everyone is together. Rainy day. (Dragon City Mall, Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20170521 - OCADU
Workshop on "Design X: Sketching Some Future Paths for Design Professionals" at RSD5, OCADU, Toronto - Gagosian Britannia
Richard Serra (2016) "NJ-2" is a labyrinth that each visitor can walk into. The twists and turns are surprising, as I entered from the west and exited from the east. The walls are weatherproof steel, so removing backpacks to carry by hand is superfluous to damaging the imposing structure. - HyVee Washington
Golden maple planted 2 years ago on farm not doing well, clerk advised more fertiizer. New tree half price, so DLH decided to get the last one there, barely fits into minivan. Main purpose of trip was for a haircut, went to 5 barbers and stylists, and none were willing to give service without at least an hour wait. (HyVee, Washington, Iowa) 20160804 - Nino D'Aversa
Racks of bread less busy than larger hot table buffet and espresso bar care areas. This brand is delivered to our local grocery store downtown, but the selection isn't always there. Took home a loaf of ciabatta unsliced to judge freshness. Was in the neighbourhood, so a modest tour of cuisine nearby. - St. Matthews Church, Riverdale
Toured St. Matthews Anglican Church. Built in 1890, original church first one east of Don River in 1876. Congregation peaked at 400, now 75. On tree-lined First Ave., west of Broadview Ave. Riverdale Historical Society guide said long history of poor funding means building almost the same as when constructed, bricks donated by 11 local companies, laid with red bricks facade over rubble brick walls. Could be a good downtown location for a wedding. www.stmatthews-riverdale.com/ (Toronto) 20110924 1250
