In the Teck Galleries, this naturally occurring cluster of barite roses (also called rock roses or desert roses) comes from Noble, Oklahoma. This mineral specimen was formed in groundwater saturated with barium and sulfate, crystalizing and expanding in surroiunding weathered sandstone. Amused at so many rocks in glass cases that probably aren't precious, and unlikely to be damaged by visitors. (Royal Ontario Musieum, Queens Park, Toronto, Ontario) 20241119
