- Visual Arts Complex
Ceremony honouring 60th year of the systems sciences conference, which is one full cycle in the Hindu sequence. Conference in Colorado overlaps with conference in India, so we have the world surrounded. (Visual Arts Complex, University of Colorado, Boulder) 20160724 - Buddhas Restaurant
Extended family dinner celebrating nephew's acceptance as visiting scholar at Cambridge U. in the fall, before he departs on summer of international conferences and visiting home. Discussion migrated from sharing recent news, towards "what is history and philosophy of science", and its relevance to today's world. Wide variety of vegan dishes, better shared as a group. (Buddha's Restaurant, Dundas Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20190526 - Karin Knorr-Cetina, IFIP WG8.2
First keynote of IFIP WG8.2 Working Conference by Karin Knorr-Cetina on ""The Technosphere of Finance: Three Transitions and then What?", Dublin 2016 - Cochina Licha
Noticed Mercado Medillin lit up en route to vegan tacos, so we circled back for additional courses as samples. Selected a busy curbside kitchen, friendly waiter pulled two tables in the back together, and gave us menu. Enjoyed tacos carnitas, tamale mole, tostada bacalao. Followed by dessert at Neveria Paleteria with mango and coconut popsicles. Some stomaches with regrets a little later, could be altitude, jet lag, or too much variety in foods. (Cochia Licha, Mercado Medillin, Roma Sur, Mexico City) 20191218 - Disrupting the Disruptor
What Makes Enspiral Work slide, Plenary @chloewaretini @enspiral @CoopsCanada #platformcoop Established Co-ops and Experimental Models (Bram & Bluma Appel Salon, Toronto Public Library) 20170909 - Essroc Silos
Crews convening amongst earth movers, on the growing berm for the south end of the new Cherry Street North Bridge. On the roll-up door of the defunct Essroc cement plant, the Framework photograph of 130 Commissioners Street installed in October 19 by #VidIngelevics and #RyanWalker hasn't faded. The industrial heritage of the Port Lands persist. (Essroc Silos, Cherry Street, Toronto Port Lands) 20210323 - Pearson Terminal 3
Smiles and excitement for sons #4, 3, and 2, on pending departure for flight to Hong Kong, where they'll intercept son #1 for connection to Bangkok. The flight from Toronto is now leaving late, within 5 minutes of scheduled flight from San Francisco. My guess is that the HKG-BKK flight will be delayed to arrive after midnight, or Cathay Pacific will be paying for hotel rooms overnight due to missed connection. Empty nesters at home expecting quiet for 2 weeks. (Toronto Pearson Airport) 20190510 - Chow Optometrist
Imaging of gas-permeable contact lens fitting explains why my vision is foggy in the left eye. Incomplete wetting means that there are dry spots behind the lens. Remedy is to take a few more minutes to more diligently rub wetting solution into lens, or else switch to an alternative hydrogen peroxide formulation that coats the surface with a moisturizer. (Chow Optometrist, Ferrier Street, Markham, Ontario) 20190712 - Jeff's No Frills
Scheduled appointment to receive AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, responding to call for under-age 65 subjects. Received quick jab in office of grocery store, in the afternoon after National Advisory Community on Immunization expands recommendation of formulation for all ages. Ontario pharmacists are now reporting that supply is depleting, hard to plan more than a week ahead. (Loblaws Pharmacy at Jeff's No Frills, Carlaw Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20210316 - Disrupting the Disruptors

- Paul Kane Parkette
Small green space facing south, in front of facade incorporated in the 1985 construction of a coop complex on the north side of the building. Paul Kane was a painter, born in Ireland, living at this site 1853 to 1871. I've never stopped at this venue, but was out bicycling, and found a comfortable place to take a phone call, after passing through the relatively quiet Pride Weekend hangouts. (Paul Kane Parkette, Wellesley Street East, Toronto, Ontario) 20200627 - TIFF Bell Lightbox
Post-show hilmaafklint_thefilm Q-A with HalinaDyrschka, Viewed film as guest of @KellyOkamura, arriving on bike just before lights went down. Story of legitimation of Swedish abstract artist from 1906, predating Kandinski. Works were willed to her family after her passing, with conditions to keep secret for 20 years, and not sell. (Bell Lightbox, King Street West, Toronto, Ontario) 20190503 - Janes Walk, Cherry Street Lift Bridge
Crossing over @JanesWalkTO led by @JohnLorinc "A Meandering History of the Lower Don" smaller bascule lift bridge spanning the canalized mouth of the Don River flowing westward. Down the pier, dredging cranes are clearing the sediment in the Keating Channel, preempting potential river backups and flooding. The industrial precinct to the south will be transformed over the next 20 years, as the river will be naturalized. (Cherry Street Lift Bridge, Port Lands, Toronto, Ontario) 20190504
