- Pearson International Airport Terminal 1
Drop off for evening flight on Turkish Airlines to Istanbul, to meet with clients in celebration, travelling with one big suitcase. Departures area saw cars triple-parked, either for the last Sunday of the holiday season, or the first Sunday of the new year. He was at home while we were travelling for a week, now our third floor will be quite for a week. (Pearson International Airport Terminal 1, Toronto, Ontario) 20220102 - Pearson gate E77
Short escape from chilly Toronto for rainy Tokyo. No courtesy upgrade today, so will sleep vertically against the window wall. Enjoyed chicken pho with vegetarian broth in Maple Leaf Lounge, multiple refills die to small bowls. (Toronto Pearson Airport Terminal 1) 20150224 - Pearson Airport T1
Happy to retain lifetime million-mile privileges for priority services for shorter queues. My travels have reduced over the past year, and even less often without DY. This trip to Shanghai is not only to places with which I'm familiar, but also reduction of stress through a few more Western conveniences available in China. (Terminal 1, Pearson International Airport, Toronto, Ontario) 20190311 - Pearson Airport T1
Between Gates E77 and E78, colorful glass cylinders enclosing light bulbs, suspended from overhead arches. Design by Norr Architects for OTG, a company operating high-end restaurants at the airport, including Hemant Bhagwani’s Marathi Indian. (Terminal 1, Pearson International Airport, Toronto, Ontario) 20170401 - Pearl Street Mall
Rock waterfall on pedestrian mall has flowers painted on, and a few leaves stuck on. Escaped conference on evening to get off campus and see the town, restaurants and stores open. Relaxed pace for slow stroll back over a big hill onto campus. (Pearl Street Mall, Boulder, Colorado) 20160725 - Pearl Court
Toronto is one of the few places where you can have dim sum while it's snowing outside, observed EKI. Family lunch before an upcoming birthday where adult children don't care so much about the celebration anymore. Relaxed conversation about life. (Gerrard Street East, Toronto) 20150208 - Pavimento Miro
The mosaic, 8-metres in diameter, was 6000 terrazzo tiles designed in 1976 by Joan Miró, intended to be unprotected, with pedestrians walking over it every day. With the surface deteriorating and colours fading, the Barcelona City Council restored the artwork in 2006 to mark its 30th anniversary. The pathway is busy, so inattentive travellers are likely interrupt any unrehearsed photograph. (Plaza de la Boquería, La Ramblas, Barcelona, Spain) 20221004 - Paul Kane Parkette
Small green space facing south, in front of facade incorporated in the 1985 construction of a coop complex on the north side of the building. Paul Kane was a painter, born in Ireland, living at this site 1853 to 1871. I've never stopped at this venue, but was out bicycling, and found a comfortable place to take a phone call, after passing through the relatively quiet Pride Weekend hangouts. ISSS 2016 Boulder plenary - Passport check, OSL
Ways to create stress in air travel. Gate from Oslo, Norway to Manchester, UK is beyond unexpected passport control. A case for not waiting for the very last moment to board. - Party sushi
Family from Toronto and California convening foot lunch in Katy, Texas, one day before wedding celebration. Split off women to bridal shower, men to sightseeing at museums in Central Houston and Rice University. More family still arriving. (Katy, Texas) 20141205 - Parque Mexico
Slow stroll on Christmas Day at 21°C through Roma Norte, unseasonably cold streak over past week broken. Park established in 1920s in a modern style, with organically winding paths. Teatro al Aire Libre Lindbergh in disrepair was budgeted for repair in 2013, now seems popular with the roller skaters. (Parque Mexico, Cuauhtemoc, Mexico City) 20191225 - Parliament Hill
Evening stroll in Otttawa by Parliament Hill, on the south bank of the Ottawa River. Compared to Toronto, the people in Ottawa are friendlier and seem less stressed. Since I spend so much time outside of Canada, I'm getting cognitive dissonance of dealing day to day with nice people where I don't have to think so much about how we communicate (Ottawa) 20130815 2005 - Parliament Buildings of the Government of Canada, on the Ottawa River
A bright spring morning, with an inspiring view of the houses of parliament in Ottawa. From a 26th floor hotel view, the natural splendour of the Canadian urban forest is inspiring (Wednesday) - Park Hyatt
Sunset view north from the 91st floor in Pudong, with the Oriental Pearl Tower, Huangpu River and the Bund beyond. We opted to be seated for tea, wine and whisky, rather than waiting in a long queue and paying the admission fee for the observation level a few floors higher. The small table for 3 grew to 4 and then 5, as friends of our new acquaintance from Shenzhen came to visit. (Park Hyatt, World Financial Centre, Shanghai, PR China) 20190323
