- Bill Boyle Artport Gallery
Chair, side table and lamp @HarbourfrontTO brought together as Oscar Kwong (2018-2019) Companions, in mundane functionality and rationality. Drawings on the wall suggest alternative interactions by human beings with the inanimate objects. Part of The View from Here exhibition. (Bill Boyle Artport Gallery, Harbourfront Centre, Queen's Quay West, Toronto, Ontario) 20190419 - Ruijin Hospital
A bust of Fu Peibin (1912-1989), a Belgian-trained surgeon who became the president of Ruijin Hospital, after returning for the founding of the People's Republic of China. The green field, and maybe the fountain, originate as part of the original 1907 Sainte Marie Hospital from 1907. Today, the facility is affiliated with the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Discovered on a short lunchtime walk around the neighbourhood. (Ruijin Hospital, Ruijin Er Lu, Shanghai, PR China) 20190322 - Forest Lawn Crematorium
Japanese handbell on path to becoming a family heirloom, handed down from grandfather, now through father to daughters. Celebration of life for an artist who led a quiet life, remembered by spouse as a square who became a hippie. Our children played together in the parenting centre, when we first moved downtown. (Forest Lawn Crematorium, Yonge Street, North York, Ontario) 20191129 - CASCONxEvoke 2019
Workshop #CASCONxEvoke led by @RohanAlexander @prof_lyons on Barriers to Data Science Adoption: What Existing Frameworks Aren't Working, with industry panelists providing perspectives. Definitions for #ArtificialIntelligence , #MachineLearning, #DataScience blurred under misconceptions and unfounded expectations. Session served as kickoff towards a research proposal that might be executed over the next 5 years. (CASCONxEvoke conference, Hilton Conference Centre, Markham, Ontario) 20191105 - Xpace Cultural Centre
Art installation @sangminl (2019) How to Fix a Broken Home, fills project space @xpacecc . Subtle East Asian influences with bananas of varying ripeness, large bags of rice, and Bart and Marge Simpson with bright yellow skin. Wooden frame with a pitched roof outlines the larger context, we view from the outside. (Xpace Cultural Centre, Lansdowne Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) 20190720 - DI_20170620 165726 YorkU HKI NPI DY DI

- Goss Stadium
Canada Day, but @ISSSMeeting ball game @CorvKnights and @HvilleHammers @GossStadium sing local anthem of the Star Spangled Banner. Our group enjoyed the luxury of the Omaha Room box, theme days with additional characters dressed up in Wizard of Oz costumes. OSU not only has a stadium for baseball, but additionally for football and for basketball. (Goss Stadium, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon) 20190701 - Power Plant Gallery
Vivian Suter "La Canicula" exhibition @ThePowerPlantTO of canvases created with nature. Works were moved both indoors and outdoors her home in Panajachel, Guatemala, marked by insects and weather. Visitors appreciating the installation, walking around the hangings. (Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Harbourfront, Queen Quay's West, Toronto, Ontario) 20181108 - Tongji U. College of Design and Innovation
Photo day for Creative Systemic Research Platform, first as the whole team, and then with smaller groups for images that might be used in digital enhancement. Scheduled in a small overlap of travel schedules with people coming in and out of town. In a design school, there's a professional photography studio, and multiple professional photographers, resources to which I'm unaccustomed. (Tongji University College of Design and Innovation, Fuxin Road, Yangpu, Shanghai, PR China) 20190402 - Danforth Village
Long stretch of sidewalk with almost no pedestrians, on a late pre-holiday afternoon with social isolation. On this main street towards the east end, storefronts are wider than in the city centre, so walks seem longer. Maybe one in ten businesses was open, and few had customers. Pedalling bicycle with light traffic on street. (Danforth Avenue, west of Coxwell Avenue, Danforth Village, Toronto, Ontario) 20200409 - Delicious Paradise Kitchen
Schedule for family lunch at congee-noodle restaurant diverted, as grandfather decides his driving on the day of the first major snowfall is imprudent. Alternative plan to pick up takeout food from the local stall, and bring it to his apartment. Six dishes made-to-order with rice, complemented by barbeque duck and rice noodles ordered at the adjacent shops. (Delicious Paradise Kitchen, Silver Star Boulevard, Scarborough, Ontario) 20191201 - UC Berkeley
- Gravenhurst Public School
I recall going to the "new" modern building of Gravenhurst Public School at Grade 4, having spent kindergarten though Grade 3 in an older structure. Walking two blocks west from our restaurant on the main street seemed so much farther with shorter legs. Fond memories of kind teachers, plus one so strict that she was nicknamed "Sarge". Graduated to Gravenhurst High School next door. (Gravenhurst Public School, Mary Street S., Gravenhurst, Ontario) 20190915
